The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

The Yellow River Concerto
on: September 21, 2012, 03:07:08 PM
Hey there! I was finally given the opportunity to learn a concerto (yay  :)) Teacher suggested that I play the Yellow River concerto which I think is simply gorgeous (a bit cheesy but still amazing) which I wouldn't mind learning up at the slightest but after hearing a recording of it some of the piano parts seemed to have seemingly difficult sections which worried me a little.

It would be simply amazing if anyone could share an insight into this piece!

Thank you!

edit: Oh dear, I hope I didin't post this in the wrong forum! Whoops!

That's great!! Learning a concerto is something I don't think I can/would ever do in my piano life (maybe the Schumann A minor, but maybe not). The Yellow River Concerto is totally Lisztian in style, hence all the flashy bits, but it's a nice, small-scaled concerto to learn.
