on: September 25, 2012, 03:52:30 PM
hi!

Maybe something of Brahms But absolutely not necessary

i don't know that it's been recorded recently if at all.

I don't even know that it is that well known in clarient circles, the chiopin nocturnes arr for clarinet and piano are a lot more popular, i don't get it (but the OP might be interested in those too). ::)

to the OP, boosey and hawkes publishes the piano reduction and solo score to this, the andante is super pretty

Then you must find someone who plays clarinet and record it for us! :-*

i have a good couple clarinetists i have been meaning to collaborate with. i will shoot this her way and see if she wants to give it a go, if so, i'd be happy to do a high quality recording and sling it up on youtube, the piece deserves to be brought to light, definately.

will touch bases w her and let you know if we decide to put the project together.

it probably wouldn't sound too different from this, just a string reduction for piano and that's pretty much it

But I don't really like strings  :'(

Anyway, if you happen to do it, it would be great. I didn't look at the score, is it as difficult as the piano solo?
I kind of tried last year (before I came to my senses about my ability to play Chopin without lessons) and couldn't get past the first couple of bars...those fingerings  ???

it's a 'true' etude for the clarinet, they carry the builk of technical difficulty, standard collaborative piano challenges, balance, bringing out those imporant base line slurs, soft and bouncy rhythm, etc. nothing terribly difficult about the transcription from a pianistic or accompanying/ensemble perspective, so even if i am pretty swamped if my soloist contacts want to get it done we should be able to put it together without too much trouble.

Checked the score out and I see what you mean. The right hand finger acrobatics are gone...
