Scriabin Preludes
on: September 26, 2012, 10:46:21 AM
I recently went to a fabulous performance including Scriabin's breathtaking op.15 preludes. The beautifully judged, perfectly weighted miniatures sparkled against one another. I was wondering which set of preludes are you're favorites and why you think so.

I do share your appreciation for the Scriabin preludes, from here to about Op 52, and his Op 65 etudes, are my favorite works of his.

his infusion of a jazz idiom into classical forms is brilliant. the man is a genius. absolutely obsessed with his sound. super complex rhythms, lush harmonies. man i must give these a listen from front to back again, it's been a few months since i went through the whole set.

Heino Eller, complete preludes (books I, II, III, 5 preludes), fantastic late romantic style and post modern (somewhat) writing with a unique 'singing'/lyricism I do not encounter in other preludes.
i.e
i have uploaded the CD liner notes for anyone wanting to learn more about him

Janis Medins 24 Dainas, can't put to words exactly why I love these so, but I can listen to them over and over again, many times the same one replay after replay in the same sitting
