which software to use?
on: October 13, 2004, 10:41:18 PM
First of all, Hello!  :D I'm newbie here.

I've been teaching myself the basics of piano with the help of some books, and in some time I'll start to learn properly with a teacher. In the meantime, I have a question:

Is there any software which I can use to convert piano midi files to sheet music? So I can print them and learn notation... also, nothing compares to the warmth of printed paper!

Thank you in advance.

Many thanks!!! :D

But, still, my one and only purpose is to convert midi to sheet music. Finale seems too complex and, more important, too expensive  :o.

Any more ideas? A simpler, cheaper (or even shareware) program?

Thanks again!!!  ;)

I second the recommendation for Noteworthy Composer.  It's much more affordable and easier to use.

You may want to check out "Mozart". Should be able to locate through a searching site like google. The demo allows the usage of all features for quite a long period. I have good experience with it and am thinking about buying it.

Im really sorry for bumping a very old topic...
Is FinaleMusic, that you recommend, really that good? I am looking for good software for convertion piano midi files.

You could just use MuseScore, which is free. No software is capable of instantly transforming midi data into beautiful sheet music, though. You'll have to do a lot of manual fixing and tweaking.
