I have a Yamaha DGX-640 digital piano. Whenever I use headphones I only get sound through one side of the headphones. I know it isn't the headphones because I've tried several different pairs and they all do the exact same thing. I've made sure I have the phones plugged all the way in. Is there something stupid that I'm not doing? Any setting that I might need to change? When the phones aren't plugged in I get sound through both speakers. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using an adapter to go down from the large 6.3 to 3.5mm headphone jack?
If so, try a different adapter. You can get gold plated ones from China for $1 off  ebay usually including post. Otherwise it sounds like the socket in the back of the keyboard is faulty. If wiggling the headphone plug in the back intermittently fixes it then this is typically the problem.
You can sometimes bend the contacts in the socket its self to improve things. This usually means taking the lid off.

If you are not a technical type, and it is not under warranty, then I would consider using a laptop, usb-MIDI cable, and some piano package.

I bought a DGX640 for my daughter but its at her college. Don't remember if there is a stereo balance setting somewhere. Check if there is, although that would affect the speakers too. Sounds like something came loose in the jack receptacle. As stated, try a different adapter and very slightly wiggle the jack while playing and see if you get any noise, static or tone, from the side not playing. If so, somethings out of whack.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried several different adapters and they all seemed to do the same thing. I tried wiggling the jack while playing and there wasn't any change in sound. I can't seem to find anything in the settings or the manual that allows me to change the speaker output. I'm thinking I'll try to take it apart and maybe there is something obvious with the jack. Thanks again, I appreciate the help.
