Does anyone use this software?

If yes, how do you allow a playback effect for the pedaling?

I use the Finale notepad and it seems I can't even do the 8va thing.  I have no clue how to use the pedal though.  sorry.

I find the free notepad very limited (maybe that's why its free in the first place)

I just upgraded to Finale2006 from Finale2002, but it's basically all the same.

There are three ways to do it, and I am listing all this from memory, so bear with me:

1) Consult the manual that came with your software (click on the help tool). But, I know this can be frustrating if you are not used to reading it.

2) You can use the MIDI tool, but it can be messy and there are two ways to do it, so I will skip that for now.

3) Click on the Expression tool and double-click on the note where you want the pedal to sart. From the menu that pops up, click on the "Ped" expression then click edit. Somewhere, you will find "playback options" or "effect on playback." You need to click on the drop down menu and find CONTROLLER. The Controller for Pedal should be listed--I believe it is 64. For VALUE, type in 127.

To turn pedal off, do the same thing except click on the "*" expression and set the controller value to 0 (zero).
