Dear all

You may have read that Yamaha are celebrating their 125 year anniversary this month.

Last week, I attended an exclusive dealer meeting in studio-2 at Abbey Road Studios where Yamaha unveiled a brand new conservatory series grand piano range, the CX series. Artur Pizarro performed on the new C7X and spoke about the improvements in the performance of this semi-concert grand, plus he played a short piece on the original C3M 6'1" then went straight to the new C3X 6'1" so we could hear the difference.

Yamaha have incorporated acoustic and aesthetic design refinements influenced by the luxurious handcrafted CF instruments (which we stock here also). The acoustic benefits include thicker, stronger beams; redesigned soundboard construction and soundboard ribs; premium German hammer felt with greater elasticity; premium German music wire. The aesthetic resemblances to the CF handcrafted pianos are the square music desk, tapered legs, curved arms and stronger contemporary lyre. The C1 and C2 models keep the original soundboard design and beam dimensions, but the materials are upgraded in the same way as the C3 upwards.

Artur Pizarro comically referred to the C3X as "like a C3M but with more horsepower, torque and better brakes!" and "a C series piano... on steroids".

Yamaha have booked level 5 function room at the Royal Festival Hall for 12-13 October where they will be exhibiting 25 CX grand pianos ranging 5'3" model C1X to 7'6" model C7X for private selection sessions. Additionally to Yamaha representatives and technicians, I will be present to assist with piano selection anyone who booked their 30minute selection slot with me, or if the booking has already been made, by advising Craig Hughes or Leanne Barrell that they wish to conduct their session with Venables Pianos.

This is the first time Yamaha has arranged such a selection facility with so many pianos, so if you are considering a new professional tier grand piano, then this really is an unrepeatable opportunity. You will be selecting from the first ever CX pianos in the country. Yamaha will not be releasing stock to dealers until after the event, so this is your chance to pick the very best from the début CX series grand pianos.

When I attended the Abbey Road dealer meeting, I consulted Yamaha design and technical team from Japan who were involved in the creation of both the CF premium grands and CFX concert grand, but also the new CX series conservatoire grands. I obtained valuable information to ensure I can give the most technically-accurate information and guidance. As the technician responsible for the pre-showroom and pre-delivery preparation of new Yamaha grand pianos at our piano showroom, I have gained great experience and knowledge in the Yamaha piano. Further to providing truly helpful advice, I will personally visit your home, studio or institution after delivery of your selected CX grand piano and make fine adjustments to the tone and touch to optimise the piano's performance for application, acoustic environment and of course your exact taste.

If you have a piano which the CX grand will be replacing, I guarantee to give a generous trade in allowance too.

Venables Pianos will even pay your travelling expenses upon purchase.

Spaces are limited and demand is high - so please do get in touch quickly.
