Distracting From Performance?
on: October 09, 2012, 12:58:58 AM
When I watch pianists perform, and they're making all their grand movements, contorting their faces as they play and rocking their bodies, I find it distracting from the music.

I was wondering if anybody else has the same opinion?

Here is an example:

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the way Lang Lang plays, but I find all the extra froofroo is distracting to me.

I don't really care much for how people look.

But what REALLY bothers me is people coughing their brains out or people humming (including the performer).

YES. I agree!

Or even that screen that Lang Lang has RIGHT ABOVE him showing his hands.

Are you freaking kidding me?

I find with some performances that the greater the distractions available, the better.

I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that comment, haha!

OUCH!

But along the lines of distracting from performance, I usually prefer to listen to opera, rather than watch it.
