Minimalism
on: October 12, 2012, 02:03:47 PM
I don't know what to write. I have started about 6 times already and deleted all of it every time. But I still want to share this improv, so here it is.
Flutter is a bonus track.

I enjoyed both pieces. In the first one, I got the feeling that after a couple of minutes that you had "warmed up" and your brain no longer wanted to remain in the two simple figures you started out with. I think this may be a fairly common experience amongst all improvisers---there's an initial period of simplicity and warm up, and then something in the brain changes and a flow begins to occur. So--I think you should affirm that is happening and keep doing it and delve further into the style you're exploring there.
The second track reminded me of a lot of passages by Jarrett, he loves to indulge in this sort of figuration---slowly moving and changing temolo octaves and other such things just creating a wall of piano sound.
