Kawai MP6 Troubleshooting
on: October 18, 2012, 08:50:38 PM
I am a keyboard technician for a local symphony. They just purchased a Kawai MP6, mostly on my recommendation. However, I am having a problem. I am trying to set up the SOUNDS so that when you press E. PIANO you always get CELESTA; and when you press STRINGS?VOCAL you always get CHORUS; and so on, for all 8 SOUND selection buttons. However, every time I set up CELESTA on the E. PIANO and STORE that for POWERON, it works - but then if I set up the STRINGS/VOCAL for CHORUS and STORE that for POWERON, it store that,,, but then cancels out the previous E. PIANO (CELESTA) sound!! In other words, it will not store 8 settings for 8 sounds. Am I doing something wrong? OR is this unit broken? Please advise, I have sent a message to Kawai tech support, but so far, no answer. I do not want to let the 30-day return policy lapse on this unit, if broken. Thanks in advance for your help!

A shot in the dark, but have you checked that you have the latest firmware?  I know the MP6 had a firmware upgrade that fixed a lot of bugs (I know because I installed the latest firmware, myself).   That may fix your bug you found.

As that other guy told you, you may have that issue solved when upgrading. Also you may wanna configure the "Setup", and place the instruments you need wherever you want (eg. the first 2 buttons).
As for the tech support on internet from Kawai they are miles away from ideal, I just got a question answered after 30 (THIRTY) days waiting!! They really need to improve their internet tech support immediately.

Are you saving these by way of the store button ? I'm not saying you should, I'm asking if you are.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
