The more I hear for this kid, the more I effing love his playing; especially his Brahms, he just nails his pieces perfectly. Any opinions on him at all? I know a lot of people hate on him, but biases aside, how would you rate him among other rising stars?

he just nails his pieces perfectly.

That is half the problem.

I have heard him play a few times and to be honest, I could comfortable sleep through the lot.

I've just checked some of his youtube vids. He's definitely got some serious skills, although I feel his music-making is overall pretty showy. Don't get me wrong it's a good show. Really he seems pretty young. I'm very excited about the music he might be making in the future.

His touch is extremely polished and his overall musical sense seems solid. But somehow he seems to lack...direction maybe? I'll have to listen more.

But in general I'd say he is a major fat player on the scene, and again think that his musical future is probably quite bright. He's so much more interesting to me, than many of the other youngsters out there now.

You'd sleep through this?

Even Cherkassky didn't have that level of style in him. I have yet to hear him play live, but he's one of the only current pianists I'd go out of my way to hear perform.

I think he's a REALLY good pianist.
