Need help with Linus and Lucy?
on: October 26, 2012, 04:11:50 PM
Hi everyone,

In the middle section of Vince Guaraldi's Linus and Lucy, there are what looks like ties, but if I listen to this song played, it sounds like all the notes are being played.  Are they actually slurs?  Sorry I am so confused.  On the sheet music I circled examples of where I mean because I know its a bit blurry.

They are definitely ties, and that is how it should be.

Hey!

ok.. I've listened to this several times now.  It looks to me like the notation is correct.  Those are ties for sure (they couldn't be slurs anyway because they are connecting equivalent noteheads).  It is possible that what you're hearing is the LH note.. it kind of works its way in between there.  I am also assuming that you're listening to the original recording of this piece with the Vince Guaraldi trio.

This section is rhythmically confusing.  So, I can see why you might be scratching your head a little bit.

Good luck with this piece. It's a good time.  8)

Thanks so much guys!

(asuhayda, you are probably right, I could be hearing the left hand.  And yeah, I'm definitely scratching my head more than a bit in this section, haha)
