Your piano lesson
on: October 27, 2012, 02:07:55 AM
What did you do in your piano lesson? What did you learn? what did you discuss with your
teacher? I'll start. I played the Bach prelude and fugue in C major. My teacher said the demi semiquavers in the fugue have to be a bit faster. I was dragging on a bit. For Haydn Hob XVI no 34  my teacher told me to make a richer sound. I was playing too quietly and devoid of any expression.

Funny? How? How am I funny?

I was playing allegro barbaro and we discussed about the tempo changes at the second from last part and how I need to practice those a lot more and that I'll need to use the metronome for that (D:). Other than that and a few minor things, the piece is pretty much finished (yay). That took up almost the entire lesson, but I'm so looking forward to playing this piece in concert already!

Btw, wasn't there already a thread called "What I learned during practice/lessons today" or something like that? Couldn't find it though.

Alright so this is what happened last week.

Me:  okay so what do you wanna hear kid...

Teacher:  last time I head you play Bach, it freaking sucked!  So I want you to play that for me.  And stop calling me kid or else I'm gonna disown you.

*I play the Bach*

Teacher:  well...  That was...  That was...  Good?! :o :o :o >:( >:( >:(

Me:   8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D

Teacher:  No seriously...  Last time you played Bach for me, you freaking sucked!  I wanted to cut your hands off!  But now...  It's actually... Good! :o :o :o >:( >:( >:(

*teacher snaps his neck in my direction violently and looks directly at me with fear in his eyes*

teacher:  WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!  WHO ARE YOU?!

Me:   Finally, you have nothing to say!!! 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) ;D

Teacher:  But there's something wrong with the way you play this voice... :P

Me:  god damn it... >:(

Teacher:  hahahaha don't think I'll let you off the hook that easy kid!  Now play me your Liszt.

*I play Liszt*

Teacher:  your chromatic scale section...  I want to hear EVERY NOTE!  So you wanna slow it down a bit to make sure you get that pinging sound on every note.  The speed is already there, I just need more clarity.  After that, you can let it rip.

Me:  alright I got you dude.

Teacher:  I want you to show me the rest of the Beethoven next week.  And I want you to play the first movement for that festival I told you about.

me:  okay

Teacher:  now go on, skiddattle, scram, get away you little devil!  And go practice.

Told me what?

You'd finally get it.  :D

I also told you you'd finally like it.

Anyone posts that in the "Perverts" thread and I'll hunt you down.

Actually, I believe you have said that. But in any case, I'm not quite claiming victory on that.

Yet. Mwahahaha.  8)
