Could anyone help me with something?
on: October 30, 2012, 01:47:51 PM
Good afternoon.
I was wondering if anyone could be of any help in supplying me with some information I need. My questions seem to be too precise for other places on the internet, so I figured going straight to the source would give me a better chance.
I'm writing something - whether it be a book or a pile of pages found again in years to come is yet to be seen - where the protagonist is a pianist. The problem being, I know very little about pianists.
I was hoping there would be someone here who would be willing to answer me a few questions.
Simple qustions for people with the right history or knowledge, such as rate of pay for a concert pianist, and hours of practice needed?

You could do far worse than just browse some of the threads on this forum -- particularly in the "performance", "repertoire" and "miscellaneous" sections -- to get some idea as to some answers to your questions, as well as some insights into what "real" pianists are like. There is quite a mix of folks who post on here; a lot of students, but also a surprising (well, maybe not) number of practicing pianists, including a few performing concert pianists. Browse happily!
If you have specific questions, with patience you will probably get them answered too.
