Keeping My Hands Warm?
on: November 13, 2012, 03:55:49 AM
I have an up-coming recital on December 1st, and the piece I'm performing is VERY fast, and requires fast fingers, which is practically impossible if I have cold hands. I'm worried that my hands will get cold, especially if the weather is. Should I wear gloves before performing to keep my hands warm? Is there anything in particular you might suggest?

Take a shower right before you leave the house.  Buy a couple hot packs and wear some gloves to keep you warm.  Always keep them inside your pockets.  When you're sitting down, put them between your legs or sit on them.  Keep moving them.

Move?  ;D

Seriously, soak your hands in warm water as close to the recital as you can, and then wear gloves. And get the fingers moving for several minutes immediately before playing.

Okay guys thanks a bunch! I can probably take some hot packs, and I have gloves! Too many pairs of gloves, in fact...
