Advice Needed
on: November 17, 2012, 04:56:09 PM
I have developed my understanding of pop melody to the point where I could become a pro tunesmith. A few problems prevent me from going down conventional roads though. I am a full time carer at the moment -so my time is limited.

I could do one of two things I believe -

1)  Write a book -I have even come up with a brilliant title -and an outline of its contents -When I complete the book -I could self publish -or look for a publisher -

2)  Join forces with a software programmer(s)  and create something which would create catchy pop tunes -I have tested a few algorithms and the results are promising -but my knowledge of programming is non existant -I had to use other means to mimick computer instructions -( how long would it take me to learn CSOUND I wonder??? -))

I would also need to protect myself from rip-off artists who would thieve my ideas -So would setting up a Software Company initially- protect myself?   That way the programmer would be an employee -though I would be happy to consider a partnership -but have no idea how to go about any of this -Ideally -I would be happy to share any rewards equally -especially if the programmer contributed additional ideas which worked well -

I would appreciate any advice here -maybe some idea which I haven't though of -my main aim is to make money.

Would this not be simple using a music production program like Cubase or Ableton? Seems a bit convoluted to be going about programming your own synthesizer!

Ableton Live doesn't help with musical ideas  -it doesn't teach you how to write pop hooks -Mastering this kind of software obviously requires a lot of time as well and ultimately does increase musical knowledge of course -but I am talking about software which gives you ideas and helps develop them.

This kind of idea -but more focused toward commercial pop -
