netbook, ultrabook, Chromebook, etc.

Anyone have anything like that?  Mac Airs look way expensive. I saw $250 Chromebooks today that looked interesting, but possibly limited.

Does anyone have anything small, fast, and portable like that?

my understanding of chrome books is they're pretty much for cloud use only. minimal operating system and like close to no storage. basically a souped up web surfer from what i saw and understood (if im wrong someone will correct me im sure).
ultra books are high end sleek, fast computers, if you're looking for a fully functional portable computer those r the way to go, macs are super nice but you pay the premium, youcan probably get somethign relatively as nice for much less from another maker like maybe toshiba? maybe check out high end dell?

or something like this?

$1,300... Ouch.  Still too much for something like this.

The $250 and 5 second startup on the Chromebook caught my eye.

yeah ultra's are pricey but they are top of the line full comps.

so you need a full operating system and actual storage? if so , i think youll find couldbooks lacking. but if you plan to use it for internet only type stuff and saving documents or files to cloud drives, etc. then it might work. just depends what you need and want to use it for.

If you want a really light and portable yet super powerful laptop, Mac Airs are definitely worth it for the price  ;D

You can get something a lot cheaper that's just as portable and does (probably) everything you want it to for less than $500 though.

If you do only use your internet browser and nothing else, chromebooks are the way to go. The OS is pretty much just a web browser (afaik), but google has replacements for common computer programs (word processors, etc.) available of course, with cloud storage under 'google drive'. Cloud storage is the future!

This would be something to catch ideas.  Carry around all the time without really being aware that I'm lugging something.  Open it up, type notes.  Or browse the web, like PS here.  Sounds nice.  Not thousand dollar nice though.  I just don't know.

If that's all you need a computer for, then go ahead and get a Chromebook. It's perfect for that.

Cloud storage is the future!

I'm sure the CIA, FBI or international equivalents hope you are right.
