Bach WTC 1 Prelude in G minor
on: November 28, 2012, 02:19:17 AM
Hey everyone!

Haven't been on this site for a while, but I have piano juries coming up in about a week  :-X So I figured this is a pretty great place to get advice. I'll try to post the fugue as soon as possible, it is not quite finished yet, and I want it to be more polished before I post it here.

So take a listen, and I hope you enjoy. Feedback would be much appreciated :)

Guess we were waiting for the fugue.  ;)

The recording and the piano make some things a bit difficult to judge.

The trills in the bass sound rather uncertain, and there are a couple of places where you hesitate.

Other than that, pace is good, dynamics could be broader or this is something the recording is doing.  In general, a nice performance.  Please do post the fugue, even if its after the juries (whatever they are).

Possibly it's the quality of the recording, but it felt rather clunky to me. Too many strong beats - clunk, clunk, clunk. I didn't get the impression that you love the piece or feel that the lines are beautiful. A bit plodding, I think.

On the plus side, you've got the notes pretty well down and you manage the long trills well. Good luck.
