Since one of the predicted dates is also the 23rd, just keep putting it off.

I just noticed my butt is getting numb.

Is that a clue that things are beginning to end?

Or is it just that my end is beginning to get numb?

Hmmm.  Have to call Valentina Lisitsa and check with her.
Current repertoire:  "Come to Jesus" (in whole-notes)

So as long as at least one person is predicting the end of the world on every day of every hour, the world will never end!

Don't worry.  There will be another end of the world soon enough.  We'll have this thread all ready.

It's good to have a generic name on the thread. An all-purpose end-of-the-world thread.

The comet is so bright because there is an alien spacecraft behind it, and they're shining a giant spotlight on comet.  Or it could be the Sun.

Actually we visited a Maya ruin (Kahunlich) a few years ago and it was pointed out to us several times that the plural of Maya is Maya, not the Mayans.

So, the Maya did not predict the end of the world, this was just when their long count calendar started over, like our calendar does every year.

I expect the Maya would be having a New Years eve party on the 20th.  And maybe they are,  contrary to popular belief, there are still Maya around, they just don't live in the old cities.  We met a few.

It was a very interesting but pretty bloodthirsty culture.

Funny, I had this conversation a couple weeks ago.  After a long and drawn out argument, (I was arguing what you mentioned) it turned out that this is a somewhat deceptive truth.

Maya refers to the people that speak the Maya language.  Maya is a language that belongs to the Mayan family of languages.  The plural of Maya is Maya, but the plural of Mayan is Mayans.  Calling a Maya speaker a Mayan would be like calling an English speaker an Indo-European speaker.  All that being said, the historical and classic cultural people are referred to as the Maya, so "Maya Calendar" would be correct if referencing them.

However, after doing my own research into the long count calendar, it turns out that it was also used by other cultures in the region.  This would mean that it should actually be the "Mayans' Calendar".

Take that English language.

I was thinking of that.  The big rapture happened.  Everyone got left behind.

I thinking I might prefer living forever and figuring out how to build up my own world myself rather than rely on having it all handed to me.
