Bosendorfer Model 225 Semi-Concert Grand
on: December 10, 2012, 02:16:32 AM
I've recently been looking into purchasing another piano for my own benefit and for my 1 new student. I have a Steinway model D (likely the best purchase I ever made) in my "great room" (living+dining+kitchen+library, in this case), and a small Bosendorfer model 130 CL in my upstairs living room. I was thinking of purchasing a Bosendorfer Model 225 (my parents have offered to pay for it in exchange for the veena I gave them last year) for my upstairs room (it's pretty large) and moving the upright downstairs to the entrance hall. I had a chance to try out the Bosendorfer Model 225 today. It was really fantastic. Beautiful sound and great response time. Can anyone who has used this tell me of their experience with it? Thanks.

I suppose they have a nice light touch. I only like my teacher's yamaha the best, though. She said it was a c 3000 but I never found it. It has keys that feel as smooth as glass, sensational.

I love Bosendorfers. Their sound is just unparalleled. And it's nice to have the extra keys at the bottom on the 225. Steinways are good too, though a bit firmer and not as rich in tone

I am a previous owner of a 200. If I were to go Bosendorfer again, I'd go for the 225. The 225 is the beginning of the traditional Bosendorfer construction. You will note that the rim has edged corners instead of being round, like on the smaller models. This is because the rim is made of assembled sections, rather than one continous bent piece of wood. This is an intentional design feature of the larger models, including the Imperial
I like Bosendorfer too, as well as Hamburg Steinway...
