Li Yundi

I have my doubts about him....he certaintly do not dislike him in any way, but I think the Chinese just trained him way too hard. There is definitely nothing noticably wrong, and it is always very clear but never too loud. However, it is uninteresting, I think he just practices too much on things that aren't important, I've personally learned for a while at a chinese conservatory(the biggest one actually) and the put emphasis on things that I believe should be learned naturally, kind of rushing to sound like a professional without teaching anything about the music, and way too much emphasis on technique. Same with Lang Lang, I can't hear anything bad, but there is no vitality in his playing like when listening to old masters. yet theres no way to define what he's doing wrong.

If you actually read all that thanks, I has bad ADHD. I just want your opinions on him. I know no one dislikes him, but he seems to be extremely...average, while people like krystian zimmerman and lang lang are hailed as amazing pianists, li yundi's kinda nothing special.

I've always wondered if people would make the same observations if they listened to a recording now knowing it was an asian pianist.

I haven't heard a lot of his performances, but his rendition of La Campanella by Franz Liszt is the best I've heard.
