For those of us who believe in the soul, yes that can be true. Not everyone does, so it means something else to them. With or without a soul in your life doesn't mean everyone gets warm and fuzzy over a piano anyway ! It can mean different things to different people. My daughter- in -law told me one time she can see sexy women laying out on top of my piano when I play. Well, now that's something I had not thought of I must say and I bet my wife would seriously object if it happened ( bad enough years ago a good friend of hers gave me a gift after one of my recitals) !!!!!!!!! And I don't want the daughter-in-law on there either, I might add. It's not as though she is all that graceful or sexy and her husband might object along with me and his mother, my wife !! In fact, the piano itself would object, I believe.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Shhh... My piano already has an ego that's making the room too small.

David, your stories always make me happy. But I understand what you mean; interpretation.

Meh, my Steinway/Petrof/Kawai Grand in the future will be a good competitor I think, lol.

If you play the instrument really well, then yes, even your neighbors may agree...

I agree ranniks! I just got my piano two weeks ago and I'm so excited. Planning to start my lessons in February. I'm just in awe of the beauty and versatility of the piano.

:)

You know, you could already learn some chords and scales and basic reading before your lessons? Maybe you've already done so, but here's one that is easy and fun:

B major scale:

:) Yeah, I'm working through the scales at home, I have most of the major scales memorized (though not the sharps). I'll be going on to minor soon. I've played the blues scales for fun a few times, though I have to look them up, it will be some time before I memorize them. I am also working through "Alfred's All in One Adult Course, volume 1"
