Holiday Performances
on: December 15, 2012, 05:03:09 AM
Hello everyone!

It's that time of the year for holiday music so I'll start by posting a short piece I recorded a few days ago. It's my first try at arranging music so I hope you'll enjoy it.

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS:

I hope others will post their holiday pieces on this thread so we can have them all in one place to enjoy.  I look forward to listening to your pieces.

I wish you all a peaceful, joyous holiday season and a happy and healthy new year!

Choo

PS:  Please feel free to post comment here or on my youtube page.

Choo, your piece  brought me to tears:  it speaks of a inner home of rest that I'm longing soo much.

I plead you on bent kness: keep on composing, your musical talent is undeniable,  you 'talk' through music, and have a lot to say.
Thank you with all my hearth for this precious gift
Marg

Wow...thank you so very much, Marg.  I can't begin to tell you how happy you've made me.  I wish for you this inner home of rest that you seek, that we both seek, actually.  I hope you and Costi will post a holiday piece here.  So my dear friend, I wish for you and your family a most peaceful, joyous time filled with love and laughter.

this is lovely playing and a super nice arrangement of this beautiful piece.  you captured the 'traditional' character of it while infusing a fresh  take on it that is not at odds with the work. that is your composing does not 'fight the music'.

super well done! loved it.

more please!

will try to put something littel together here in the next week or so to upload hopefully (i have to travel so I may have to do something from on the road but i will take my digi piano w/me so if not before i leave hopefully with my temporary set up i can get something out!)

Hello Choo!

As I said in the other side (YT) ....  you made me teary eyed!!!!

But I could not help laugh and be amused at your reply and greetings, which went sort of this way :
on behalf of Earl, me and our cat!!!!! ;D ;D ;D   LUCKY CAT!!!! ;D ;D

Really Choo .... the arrangement you made is "perfect".....  I liked it very much and even the occasional hesitancy in your playing augments the loneliness and longing in the piece.... as if the hesitation was due to tears.   THANKS!!!

Even though the song is a bit too jazzy for my taste, I thought you played with great longing and love.  I loved the balance you achieved between the hands and your tone was ringing out like Xmas bells -very well done.
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

Thanks, Emill and Starstruck.  So glad you both enjoyed my rendition.

Emill:  Where did you get this message about me, Earl and our cat??  I laughed and laughed at the way you described it. It is something I would have said but where did you see it?  The hesitations were tearful.  You were incredibly sensitive to my feeling of sadness and longing when I was playing it.

I also wanted to clarify that this was not an original composition or arrangement.  I watched a lot of pianists on YT and read some scores and came up with something I liked.  I did include some transitions and chords but that's it.  I'm not talented enough to be an original arranger.  Hope I didn't mislead anyone.

I like the rendition. It shows where your strength in piano is Choo.  ;)

Perfection itself is imperfection.

I hope others will post their holiday pieces on this thread so we can have them all in one place to enjoy.
something i tried to put together last minute (been a challenge w travel, finishing the semester, etc.).

took a few liberties here and there w it but for the most part it is phillip keveren's arrangement. im away from my primary instrument so i used my travel piano. i had never played w the electric piano voice, i think it gave it a nice different 'twist'.

Merry Christmas!

PS what's with other folks? 125 views and until my reply no another uploads? I hope we'll get more as we approach the rest and conclusion of the holidays.

PS apologies for that 'popping' im not sure what it is or how to get rid of it, the original playback on my end doesn't do that. also im not  on my own equiptment (computer wise) so that may have something to do w it ::) if i can i'll try to do another take and upload video instead to see if that helps things out. strange... :-\

Thank you, Enrique, for posting your holiday piece here.  Even through the pops (could that be due to the mp3 recorder, I wonder, because when I tried it once, it was noisy as well), the brilliance of your performance shone through.  In this recording, the snowflakes were more defined than in the video, for some reason.  There was more of a sparkle.  Were you using the same dp?  It must have been the same dp.

Regardless, it is a magical performance and I enjoyed both thoroughly.

Merry Christmas to you, too!

Very beautiful. I agree a bit with Starstruck in that it is sort of jazzy for my taste but I'm a classical snob so there. I have never heard the original version of the song, but this is so beautiful. I am listening to this on the morning of Christmas Eve, with a view of snowcapped mountains, which makes this much more special. I hope to see another holiday arrangement soon! Sorry about not uploading a holiday piece of mine; I'm working on a rondo on the theme of the Coventry Carol. Once I finish it I should be able to record it!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, etc.

V
