Mozart k545 - where to go after? Recommendations please
on: December 15, 2012, 07:03:07 PM
I have an adult learner, about 26, preparing gr 5 ABRSM, loves Mozart, has pitch, very musical, playing 1st mvt Mozart K545, would like your recommendations on what other classical work would be suitable? Thanks.

I would recommend the Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" (Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars) by Mozart.
Charming set of variations and thoroughly a pleasure to learn.

Haydn contrasts Mozart very well. I definitely suggest an easy Haydn sonata.

Seeing as nobody else got in with the lame joke yet, how about the second movement?

Play the pieces listed on the ABRSM syllabus to progress. At least that's how people following AMEB do it.
Perfection itself is imperfection.

Currently practicing
Albeniz Triana
Scriabin Fantaisie Op28
Scriabin All Etudes Op8

Whatever you do, do NOT look at lists to decide what pieces to play. Simply no list exists which is right for everyone. Play the pieces you like. That will cause you to progress. Not reading off a printout from a teaching website.
