2nd mvt:  11:44  . . . . .  3rd mvt:  24:06

We know it is difficult to comment on the whole piece as it is 36 minutes long, but
it would be most appreciated if some may tell us about one movement.  The big one
with the Manila Symphony Orchestra will be on Jan. 12, 2013 or barely 4 weeks from now.
We would like to know your opinion on areas where improvement must be effected.
THANKS so much!!!

Bravo !! Very good !!

Enzo especially shines at the lyrical sections. He really feels the music. And Jordan's accompaniment is wonderful.

At a few spots (in all movements) there were some exaggerated accelerando. But I think these will probably be adjusted by the conductor during the rehearsals.

I very much enjoyed listening.
I could only wish that the tuning of the pianos were better.

Congratulations to both Enzo and Jordan !!

Thanks so much Hakki .....  It is always best to have the opinions of others
and I am sure there will still be many corrections and adjustments to make
during practice with orchestra.  They will have two, 2-hour practice sessions
on Jan. 9 & 10.  I hope it will not be rained out and flooded like what happened
last year with the LIszt Concerto No.1 where they barely had any practice.

Surely there must be other areas to improve on......  please, anyone?

Hi Enzo and Emill,

I listened to the entire concerto.  Bravo!  Both Enzo and Jordan were superb.  Congrats to both!

There is much lyrical playing that is gorgeous.  And the bravura parts are very exciting.

I agree with hakki that a few accelerandos get a bit wild.  Horowitz used to say that the most emphasis in playing a concerto is keeping time with the orchestra.  He had a point there.  So there is that strong constraint as opposed to playing in recital. That will be ironed out in rehearsal.  When you're playing solo passages and cadenzas, that's different, of course.  Be sure you're content with decisions on tempo. Right now, I think the second movement is just a tad slow, so work that out with the conductor if necessary. To play at your best, you need to be comfortable with those decisions.

My sense is that you're thoroughly prepared, and preparation is everything.  So you'll do fine, I'm sure.  I always enjoy watching your progress.  Super!

David

Beautiful! I've been following his progress for quite a time now and I can only expect the best from him!

Are you going to upload a recording of the actual concert? I would be very grateful if you did!

It is difficult for an amateur like me -to give any suggestions for improvement!  Enzo is so far ahead of my meagre abilities. Technically this playing is up there with the best of them -and the Romantic Lyricism is really special in this interpretation -Marvelous -
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

Thank you .... you are so kind and generous. You definitely play the piano very well with a sensitivity which is just different from Enzo. The compositions/arrangements you have posted here speak well of that sensitivity.  Thanks again.

I agree with hakki that a few accelerandos get a bit wild.

Hi David ....  Thank you for all the encouragement and support and yes adjustments have to be made. Enzo fully agrees and is not quite satisfied with his overall performance with Jordan.  He is happy though that most who attended his piano recital at the University of the Philippines last December 6, found it enjoyable.   He has also adjusted a bit the tempo of the 2nd movement. Thanks and BEST WISHES.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!
