How is this keyboard for learning?
on: December 29, 2012, 05:08:27 AM
Been searching Craigslist for a decent keyboard (i have limited space and money) to start to learn on. I have yet to play a piano... There is a listing for a Yamaha YPP-50 for $100. Was wondering your thoughts on if its a good buy or if i could spend around the same for a better keyboard to learn on?

Thanks!

The sooner you start to learn the better. I have never played the exact one. However, I would say the price is OK if everything works, otherwise forget it and move on. I think it has 78 keys instead of the full 88 keys. Given your limited space and money I would go for it. You should get most of the $100 back if it is in good condition when you sell it. Try and get some time on someone else's real piano, in a school, church, relatives, etc. If you have lessons, making sure the teacher has an acoustic helps.
