Aspiring Classical Pianist
on: December 29, 2012, 11:50:16 PM
Hello.  I am wanting to become a classical pianist.  I am not wanting to be a world class pianist like Lang Lang or Kissin (although I'm not completely against the idea).  However, I'd like to be able to give concerts for a living.  Does anyone know how I would do this?

Lots of practice, apply for a conservatoire, hope you get noticed.

Or something like that I dunno.

You could probably shoot higher than Lang Lang.

Giving concerts for a living is being world class.  Few people are making a living on concerts alone... And those that do are world class.

The other ones have added on teaching gigs and other forms of income.

Even this one...

Why?  Steady income, steady job, steady life would be my guess.  A retirement package, etc.

Actually, if you want to give concerts as part of your living, being a professor works.  It's part of your job then.  Along with teaching. You'll just have to compete with everyone else for that job though.  Haha.
