it is also one of his prettiest. goes to show, complicated and technical difficulty are not pre-reqs for beauty.

i don't know if it is PD domain in any territories, there are no 'legal' scans that i know of out and about on the interwebs.

it can be purchased here
https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Lied-Song/3185630

as for the preludes, I dont know. hopefully somoene else can speak to that, i enjoy listening to rachmaninoff  but as of yet i have not felt a connection or draw to any of his solo works strongly enough to prompt me to study learn and perform/record any of his music.

what i do like most are the earl wild transcriptions of his songs. those are inredible but i am no where near ready to seriously take any of those on.

i have read (and based on a rough glance through the score) taht the famous c# minor prelude op 3 no 2 is the most approachable for most people when first wroking with his music and shorter works.

though to be fair, i actually think his romance in f minor op 10 no. 6 is probably far more reasonable (technically) than even that prelude. but it is not easy by any means, there is complex voice leading and a more than adequate amount of control is neccessary to effectively navigate those dense sections (i.e. similar to what you might need in some Bach works).

i would post the score as i have a very good scan from the university society inc (which no longer exists/is out of business, and his work is PD in many countries but it is tricky, some territores still block the content and i do no know if anyone ever bought UMS' rights before or after they went out of business/stopped publishing).

i would look for and listen to that romance though. very lovely. volodos recorded it recenlty. sample here:

This piece came to mind:

It's not hard, just a short, nice and simple A - B - A1 piece. Although the middle section might appear to be so because it's fast, but I believe it is manageable enough for a beginner with good practice.

it's probably about the same, look spretty straightforward, and should have too many places where small hands are problematic.

id say technically it's bit more difficult but there does not to be as many voicing and intricate phrasing challenges, where the romance is less demanding technically but will challenge you to sustain an appropriate cantible style tone and really work to create a variety of texture.

id just say, read through all of them, the go with the one you like best.

Easiest pieces I know of are Moment Musical 3 and some stuff from Opus 3 (Melodie?). Maybe there are minor works that are easier, but they are not his best pieces.
