Easiest Mendelssohn
on: January 04, 2013, 05:56:32 PM
Hello everyone!

I recently listened to some of Mendelssohn's "Songs without words" and was astonished how beautiful they actually are. Thus I wanted to play one oh these immediatly, got the sheet music but had to gain the insight that they were pretty hard, at least for me.

Which one do you consider the easiest of these?
I worked my way through all this grading stuff but I'm not quite convinced of that. I guess it is easier to say which one is the easiest than giving them all abstract numbers.

Thank you in advance
(Please forgive any language mistakes, I'm still learning Engloish in school).

Depends I guess, but these are usually considered easiest:
30-3
19-4
102-3 (this one is fast though)

I took up the piano about 3 months back and am currently learning the Venetian Gondola Song, Opus 30 No. 6. I'm finding it challenging but by no means impossible, and it's very beautiful. Looking at the above list it seems to be one of the easier ones.
Currently learning:
Mendelssohn 19/6           Chopin 28/4
Satie Je Te Veux            Rach C#m
Poulenc Bal Fantome       Chopin 28/20
Schubert Serenade         Chopin 15/3
Chopin 10/9

Thanks to everyone who answered.
I decided for op. 19 number 4 now. It really isn't easy at all for me but I try hard and at some point in time, I will get it, I hope.
However I want to try op 30 no 3 afterwards aswell.

Puuh, just too many great pieces out there...

Indeed - go for both. They're worth it.
