Yay ! I'm getting a Piano teacher, I'm glad because I don't think I'd be able to evolve healthily otherwise. I'm sure she is a good teacher and a good player, had very good references. It will be an absolute surprise If she is not, but I'm not even thinking about that, its less than a remote possibility.

So...yeah, I've been practicing a little bit more for real, doing some progressions and making sure my fingering is good, I don't want to be massacred.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm working very basic stuff, like coordination with both hands, like going C to C with both hands at the same time, I've tried doing that in D major but It seems I can't do it with the left hand no matter how I try it :( are there any exercises to work that out?

Thank you very much!

If she asks me to play anything I will play Minuet in G BWV 114, or/and BWV 113 if I can polish it t'ill there. I was finally able to figure out the Ornamentations in BWV 114 after a long time, it sounds so much better.

She is a Classic Piano teacher (and Harpsichord), I'm so excited!!

Your teacher, if she is a good one, will want to see what your strengths and weaknesses are, so that she knows where you need help and what she needs to build.  Don't practice too much, because if you have any bad habits or poor approaches, then you are just reinforcing something that she has to help you undo and replace.  It makes her job harder.  Don't think of it as a criticism of what you can do ---- like getting a bad report card.  Think ... hm .... well, you have a car that you're bringing into the garage.  The mechanic says that the spark plugs need to be cleaned so that it will fire better, aligning the wheels will make it more efficient, and you go from there.  Or think of sports.  Will the person assessing the racer be interested in how fast he can run, or what he can do to make his running more effective?

I agree, there's no point in preparing as if you were getting ready for an audition. I'm sure she's seen it all, and she'll be more interested in where you are right now so she can figure out what to do next.

The one thing you might want to think about is how long you can commit to practicing every day. She might ask you that, and it would be good to have an answer ready. It will make a big difference, if you can only practice one hour, or 2, or more. It might affect what direction she decides to take you in.

I'm so happy for you!

Really, don't try to "get good" for your lesson. That will just create tension for you in the teaching situation. Think about it this way: The worse you are the more you will benefit from her teaching and it will be money well spent  ;D

Today my teacher said something like this to me after I played a piece: It is so nice to see you play because I remember how you were when we started...that was 16 months ago and she still remembers, so I guess teachers don't forget  :P
