What is a "turnaround" scale?

Maybe this is a reference to the turnaround in the blues progression, but I've never heard of a "turnaround scale".

I haven't heard the word turnaround used in any context but jazz progressions.
However, blissful ignorance should never stop us from speculating. This is after all the Internet.
So here's a thought. One way I do scales on a brass instrument is to start on Bb and go up an octave plus half step, "turnaround" and come back down in B, turnaround and go back up in C, etc., until 12 scales are done. You're supposed to do it on one breath, hard to do on trombone though I've managed it a couple of times.
Could that be what the poster means? If so, you'll have to reconcile the ending finger position with the right one for the next scale.

that is a real neat idea. I don't know if it is good for anything, but something fun to do.

Hmmm...
Hanon
has something similar to what TimR described. It is in his 60-exercise book, number fifty-something (I'm at work so I can't check things out).
You play octaves (both hands) starting out on C. Go for 2 octaves, up then down, then play some leading notes that bring you down to A. So you play A minor from there, 2 octaves up then down, then some leading notes that take you down to F. You play F major etc. This way you cycle through all the major and minor scales by the time you come back to C. Does it do you any good? Ask Bernhard or Chang
