Issues with Bach's Prelude 6 WTC I
on: February 02, 2013, 05:20:43 AM
Hello guys! So, I'm having a lot of troule playing Bach's Prelude 6 WTC I. Everytie I get to the end of the first page, in measures 10-11 (and more I can't remember) I try to play the right hand notes for the last beats or two of the measure but they become blurred and I ALWAYS play the wrong notes. I don't know how to practice those part or anything. Also, my arms and elbows become extremely fatigued after about playing this piece 2 times through. I've tried deep breathing, keeping my eblows at about key level, moving the bench back, etc. but nothing has worked. And my teacher's no help at this either. She just tells me "Just do more rhythm practice and it'll get better". So, could you guys please advise me on how to approach the section(s) in which I'm having trouble with? Also the pain thing? thanks in advance.
Be nice to me, I'll be nice to you.

This one Bach Prelude, you're referring to is the one in D minor correct?

In regards to bar 10-11, the piece is modulating and changing keys. My guess is you're forgetting the notes and have no way to remember them.

I would practice in blocked chords. I rarely find myself using those rhythmic type practices.

Practice from slow to fast.

Note - I hate playing Bach, it's way too hard and boring for me.  ;D

Perfection itself is imperfection.

Currently practicing
Albeniz Triana
Scriabin Fantaisie Op28
Scriabin All Etudes Op8

Yes, that's the one!! I agree with you about Bach..ugh. Well I'll try practiing the way you recommended me to, because I think that type of practice could really help.
