That's right, I tried the old chat room too once or twice. As with Facebook, the conversation tended to become trivial. "I have just been to the barber", "I had bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning", "I have a funny pain in my big toe" - you know the sort of thing. There was nothing rude, but music became obscured in a mass of detail about everyday activities, which didn't really interest me. For much the same reason I find Facebook strangely tedious; handy for finding old friends, useful for overseas contact in emergencies, but that's about it.
