I'm surprised no-one has commented on this, but I guess it's not very demonstrative music. Anyway, thoroughly enjoyable: I thought it got better as it went on - the last two were very nice indeed. Excellent touch throughout and you certainly captured the poetic and wistful aspects of the music.

We just went through a powerful blizzard with no power for a couple of days ( well I have a generator that powers about half the house), amazing storm anyway but I was away from PS  and just caught your performance.. Very nice indeed, good job !!

I'm working on the second piece myself right now, appreciated hearing it. You control it well !

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Thanks for listening, ronde and hfmadopter!

hfmadopter, glad you apparently made it through that blizzard; it was even in the German news, must have been quite rough...

Enjoy studying the 2nd piece. If I had to pick a personal favorite among the six wonderful pieces, it is still the 3rd one (no popular abuse of this piece can take my fascination away from it), but then comes close the 2nd one! Always keep listening to the sound, especially during the long notes....

Your playing reminds me alot of kempff's  approach to schubert.  very musical, lyrical, natural.  You even play slower then him at times!  I love these pieces, too.  And they're very difficult to get across, i think.  Are you german, by any chance?
Just out of curiosity, do you leave out the left hand intentionally in no. 1, 2nd section.  Where it goes e-g e-g e-g?  Is this a "new" version?

Thanks a lot for your comments, birba! Yes indeed, hello from Germany!  :)

OMG!!!! This has never happened to me before (I hope...). I just opened the book (Vienna Urtext, I care a lot about good editions usually) and there it is: I completely and systematically had forgotten about the left hand. And you know what? I found this one of the most awkward passages in the entire cycle, as I felt that it sounded too "thin" - here we have it!  ;D Really, thanks so much! I'm writing "thanks birba" over that passage, so when I come back to this cycle maybe in a year or two I will remember!
