Piano Street Magazine:
Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. After his recital we got the chance talking to Tenici about his Wagner/Liszt project. Read more

Twenty Four Keys (Full Album)
on: February 23, 2013, 12:01:16 AM
Hi guys! If you remember a few months back, I submitted a post stating that I was in the process of recording 24 improvisations, one in every key.  Well, it's done! I have completed my mission I set forth to accomplish, and am faced with 24 improvisational pieces for piano. I kind of rambled on there a bit...enough of that.

Here they ALL are on YouTube:

And if you like them, you can buy the album on iTunes and amazon, just google search "Tyler Ray Johnson"

If not, just keep watching the videos :)

Finally! It was a long wait but I'm sure it was worth it. I haven't listened yet.

Any chance of putting these in a youtube playlist? I'd like to just listen straight through. I like what I hear so far though. Given the choice between so called "modern classical" and all the intellectual huffing and puffing and hyperventilation associated with it, and straightforward and very well done melody like this, I choose the latter every time.

I already listened to the whole set and I like it! As Derek said, I very much prefer this music to most of today's 'classical' 'compositions'.

The playlist will help a great deal, it was really problematic to listen to all the pieces separately.

This is fantastic stuff! One of my favorites so far is the F minor one, the "pausing" motif was a nice contrast to the usual riff flow that you do. I also loved the Eb minor one. Your music is like "new age with power" or something. I get the feeling that you are capable of an even wider range of sounds than what are represented here, but obviously you know who you are musically and you create what you want to create, and it is very good. *edit* b-flat minor is excellent as well.

I believe this was recorded shortly after listening to Tyler's excellent set of preludes. I don't think there are any direct influences there, its more generic and through the lens of my own musical inclinations. So this is my musical way of saying I enjoyed your music  :)

Wow, excellent work Derek!

Sorry for the excessively late reply, I've been out of the country for about six months or so.

Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to that, I'd like to hear more!
