Casio Px-130 Key popped
on: February 23, 2013, 09:25:20 PM
Hello everyone,
I have a Casio PX-130 and just recently one of the keys popped up. The key still plays, but it is extremely awkward to use. I've tried to google how a repair manual but cannot seem to locate one. Any ideas on how to repair this myself? I'd rather not pay for it to be fixed, seeming as the key still works, and it seems like a minor fix.

Thank in advance!

Casio has had some issues with jacks breaking and that sounds like it may be the possible problem from your description with your piano. If so you need a new key and hammer assembly. If the casio is at all like the Rolands that were breaking, changing the key is not a huge issue. In them ( Roland) it's a matter of removing a few screws and lifting the top off the piano gaining access to the open keys. Simply lift the broken one out and slip the new one in and screw the top back on.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I watched a video some months ago on repairing a Yamaha the same way. I suspect this is pretty standard with keyboards.

Obviously, if this is the problem ( I do not know for sure that it is), you will need to contact Casio for the part. I assume it's out of warranty ?
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
