I would like to nominate AJ Long as the best composer, and one of the best pianists on this site. Too bad he's so humble or he would have probably nominated himself. ;)

Oh yes I think that electrafingers might have AJ beat. The first time I clicked on this site was when I typed in "Chopin Etude op.25 no.6" on Google and his recording in the audition room came up. I clicked on it and I was like... :o Then I signed up for an account to hear more. Haha!

I'm probably the best composer. I might be biased, but wait until you see my compositions. I have composed a few preludes, etudes, two nocturnes, a sonata, a ballade, and I'm working on three mazurkas.
I made an account and hadn't used it in a year. Welcome back, kevon.

there should be categories for this...

who is the best at Rach or Bach or whomever..
who is the best composer
who has the best technique
who has the best videos
who is most likely to become a world famous concert pianist
who is the best teacher
who is the friendliest and most positive
and...who is the most talented and knowledgeable JAZZ player..  8) ..ahem..lol

to try and just pick one all-around best pianist is really impossible... there's just too much talent here.

You ;)

Not to be too modest but it's definitely AJ, I can be a touch critical at times and he's a better musician than I too. But thanks for saying so Anyway ;) I would say you are the most enthusiastic ;)

you can be a touch critical.. but you are honest Josh.  It's tough to critique someone's playing for real... if they are posting here it's because they want feedback and simply saying "wow, that was great"  isn't very good feedback.   I respect that you say what you mean even if I feel a twinge of pain now and again when I read your posts... the other day you were talking to AJ and telling him you would have done things differently in one of his recordings and that takes some balls.. he's quite a player.

don't sweat it  ;)

Thanks DC. I try to be even handed and above all, useful in my criticism. When I said that to AJ I really meant that our differences on the piece were subjective rather than objective and I even felt a little bad for saying it when he obviously had created a very personal version of the piece but it was how I honesly felt and he deserved to know that.

well see... now if we talk about it then maybe we can reach a point where we can point out things about someone else's playing without fear of offending them or feeling guilty later on.   I am not very good at it either... I can say lots of nice things...but it's hard for me to honestly critique someone else's playing... and I have been teaching for 20 years. lol.  I mean it's different of course when I am with one of my students alone in my studio... no problem there... but here... not so easy.  Some of the members who do point out the imperfections come off sounding so condescending that sometimes even if they are right... I still feel the urge to defend the performer...fiercely.  Mama Bear mode and all that...lol.

I always think it's a shame there's not a dedicated compositions board on this forum.

Most likely to become a world famous concert pianist: practically by definition that must be one of the younger members, and I'd say can and enzo (arielpiano too, but I think he's a bit older) have the chops and the musicianship, and that they're already well en route.. the trouble is a bit of luck is needed as well!

and I am the only jazzer..  lol...  hey man take it when you can get it.

in this business it really is all about what you personally bring to the table... if you're skill set is unique than you can't be replaced by any and every other pianist who can read music.  that's why this deserves mentioning among those who are "the best pianists on pianostreet"  8)

Not exactly...someone did make Sayers recordings earlier, don't remember who... But you're probably the first to do Pollini :)
