Advanced Chinese traditional music transcriptions?
on: March 10, 2013, 11:46:32 AM
I was wondering where I could get my hands on these. I've been trying to find pieces worth learning.
And is there sheet music available for "Sunflowers" by Wang?
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No.2, Piano Sonata Op 57
Chopin - Ballade Op 23
Liszt- Hungarian Rhapsody No.14
Ravel - Pavane Pour une Infante Défunte
Cramer/Bulow,Chopin Etudes
Chamber music

And a transcription of Liu Yang River, I can't remember which.

Here's a link for Liuyang. There's no pdf, only a midi and a bunch of images, so you'll have to print the images one by one or copy them to a word processor or something.

I have a score called The Romance of Butterfly Lovers by Sun Yi-Lin; a transcription for piano solo based on the violin concerto. Are you interested in seeing this?

I would love to! I have the violin concerto score at home, and have an idea to transcribe it myself (it would be an experience), but I would love to see it. Thank you.
Check your PMs.

I have the complete violin concerto transcribed for piano and violin. This might make it easier to transcribe for piano solo, as much of the piano part is already done.

Here is a book I bought very near the Central Conservatory of Music in China. It has Cai Yun Zhui Yue and 29 more. I don't know if the website is trustworthy though

Sorry, did you mean to post a link?

Also, does anyone know if there some good transcriptions of Mo Li Hua?

Thanks

(Probably not a good one, but that's the first one I found by Googling...)

Since this thread got revived, does anyone have the Chinese Rhapsodies by Wang Anlun?
Chopin Op 18, Op 53, 62/2, 37/2, 10/12
Fauré Nocturne 5
Bach English Suite 3
Brahms 79/2

Here is a good set of Chinese piano works, the price is cheap enough for 16 books, please check for stock of amazon.cn as the other sellers don not ship internationally. Highly recommended. Some volumes include 2 piano version of piano concertos too!

For mo Li hue, i have heard that Percy Grainger arranged it, but i do not have the music. If you want something that sounds virtuosic check out Arensky's Op..25 no.3. Listen to the ENTIRE PIECE you will get a surprise! Lol no the middle has mo Li hua

More likely it's a confusion surrounding the Chinese characters 茉莉, since Molly on the Shore is translated as 岸邊的茉莉...

Thanks for the Arensky. I've got to try it out sometime! :D

I think the Shanghai Music Publishing House has published it, the website is here, though it is in Chinese: https://www.smph.sh.cn/

I tried searching for Huang Anlun (no results) and rhapsody (only returned Liszt). Maybe I'll ask the people at Tom Lee sometime...

Try searching for Beautiful Fresh Flower, transcribed by Percy Grainger. I'm sorry that these westerners translated it wrong  ::)
