Fingering Options for the C Major Apegio
on: March 16, 2013, 03:34:51 PM
Hello guys,

I have recently decided to deactivate my account because I don't use it very often.

Thanks for insight and concern, pianosfun.

You got me quite confused...the standard fingering is 1-2-3-1
If you can't make the 3-1 comfortably you just "jump" a little.

How much you go between the black keys depends on your hand and what you are playing I guess.

Well now you've repeated 1235 and you're still confusing us.

Is this what you mean?

C1 E2 G3 C1 E2 G3 C5

if you are doing two octaves. I think that's the fingering most people use, in fact it's hard to imagine anybody who finds it easier to use a different fingering. As for inversions, with C major I guess there are different options. For example with first inversion you could do

E1 G2 C4 E1 etc

or E2 G3 C1 E2 etc

But it's really more illuminating to talk about other keys. There it can get a little trickier.

Have a great flight!

I think another fingering you could consider is 2-3-1-2, for the stretch between G and C, but that's up to you
