Composing?
on: March 17, 2013, 08:33:03 PM
Am I the only one that while practising just messes with the keys and something nice comes out which you make a piece out of?

I'm not sure what to call what I'm working on....But basically I'll tell it through words:

There once was a Kingdom. Three princes and 2 princesses lived there, all not related to each other. The third and youngest prince had a crush on one of the princesses. Years pass and the princes and princesses marry. The youngest however stays alone.

He leaves the kingdom and promises vengeance.

One day arrives in the kingdom and the sky turns crimson and black. The youngest prince has returned from somewhere and wages war against the kingdom. The peacefull kingdom does not want war, but is forced to.

They fight and fight. A day arrives when the youngest prince dies. The clouds become white and blue once again. Peace returns.

This all in music form. I'm not sure, but is what I'm composing/have in my mind concidered a piano piece or something for a musical?

I've called this piece: God's first gift: The Blessed and Cursed.

I'll record it sometime and post it here.

And I dare say my piano skills have grown! Can't believe where 7 months and hard work and determination can bring you. And passion and emotion for the instrument.

But in all seriousness: can anyone aid me in my endevours?

When trying to make a piece I just press certain keys and mess with it until it sounds nice. Didn't Bach say such composers are crap? That's the only thing keeping me from having more faith in myself. I love Bach's pieces, but if he says what I am doing now is crap, it affects me somehow.
