Has anyone here heard of the Scriabin Fantasy?
on: February 17, 2003, 06:48:52 AM
I heard someone play the Scriabin b minor fantasy (Op. 28 I belive) at a competition at Eastman consevatory and loved the peice.  I talked to my teacher and he had never heard of it before neither has just about everyone I have talked to!  I am now starting the peice and it's great!   I was just wondering if any of you had heard it and what your thoughts were.

Thanks!

This fantasy is very well-known in Russia and formar SU. It's Skriabin rather earlier work and it's pretty hard ;D
But if you have a good sence of polyrhytmia and pedaling you can do it well.
:DIt's really a marvelous piece, I love it!

There's a not bad recording on Naxos with Bernd Glemser (sp?), and one on aura-music or ermitage of Lazar Berman in recital (with a good execution of Rach.'s Moments Musicaux, among other things).

Well, I did learn the Fantasy over the summer and I love it!  I have the Glemser recording, and I have heard of the Berman, but I can't find it anywhere.
