April 8, 2013: What are you working on this week?

I'm trying to be more focused in my practice and I thought it would be helpful to post on a weekly basis my challenges.

I'm working on a Beethoven sonata, which is much more challenging than my first piece, Rondo Alla Turca.

As a largely self-taught piano student, I never 'counted" measures precisely and my teacher is very, very precise.  I find it challenging not to just barrel through the piece but to take each measure slowly and thoughtfully.

How about you?

I've just started piano lessons, a few weeks back. I am working from Alfred, Adult beginner all-in-one course book, volume one. Just at the point where C major chord and G7 have been introduced. So I'm working on that section. On my own I have also been working on Robert Vandall's prelude #4.
