How do you?

Make something bigger?  I mean, I've got this thing that I'm trying to make bigger, but I am not sure what I'm doing.  What do you do, or what would you do in that situation?

Some things are easy to make bigger, but some are more difficult. So I'm afraid no one solution fits all situations...
