RCM exam repertoire question
on: April 12, 2013, 05:59:11 PM
I have a student registered for the Grade 5 RCM exam in June.  Does anyone know if I require
special permission to use a List B piece from the previous RCM book? Specifically "La Caroline" by Bach?

The official rules for substitution are found on page 130-131 of the syllabus.

The 2008 Syllabus does not list La Caroline under Grade 5 list B.  It neither lists the piece under Grade 6.  For Grade 5 teachers choice is only allowed for the Study.

However, you can seek prior approval for one piece in list A, B or C.

So it looks possible if you attain permission beforehand.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
