How many Valse Brillante did chopin compose?  and why all of them have the same name?

There are four Grande Valses Brilliantes (one in Op 18 and 3 in Op 34), only the first of which commonly bears that name. I presume Chopin called them that to distinguish them from the ones you dance to.
