Your repertoire?
on: October 28, 2004, 06:27:27 PM
Hi
I´m quite new here in this interesting forum.
I´m very curious what you have in your piano repertorie. I get much inspiration from others repertorie. I have not so much in my right now, Ocean and Revolution etude by Chopin, and also some smaller pieces. Soon I´ll add the Heroic polonaise by Chopin, and working on Hungarian rhapsody no.11 by Liszt.

Ingri  :)

I keep a text file on my computer of my memorized repertoire. Sometimes the hardest thing is remembering what pieces I know so I can keep them practiced. :)  I keep a bunch of easier/shorter works to fill out time; they're also good for working on musical things or to warm up.  Simple enough to paste it tho:

Ravel - Sonatine
Ravel - Prelude in A minor (1913)
Ravel - A maniere de ... Borodine
Satie - Gnossiene No 1
Beethoven
-  Sonata Op 2 No 3, III Scherzo (Edit: Forgot this one! It wasn't in my txt file!! :o )
- Sonata Op 14 No 1
Chopin - Waltz Op 69 No 1, "L'Adieu"
Chopin - Waltz Op 69 No 2"
Chopin - Etude Op 25 No 12, "Ocean"
Chopin - Scherzo Opus 31
Chopin/Liszt - Zyczenie ("Maiden's Wish") from Chants Polonais
Liszt - Concert Etude No 3, "Un Sospiro"
Liszt - Valse Oubliee No 1
Liszt - Annees De Pelerinage, Italie:
   Sonetto 47 del Petrarca
   Sonetto 104 del Petrarca
Bach - Gavotte (from the sixth suite for cello)

Right now, I'm practicing as much as possible for an audition to Royal Academy of Music in London in December. On this audition, I'm planning to play:

Chopin - Ballade no 3
Chopin - Etude no 1, op 10
Ravel - Sonatine, first movement
Rachmaninov - Second piano concerto, first movement
Bach - Preludium & fugue in c-moll, WTK 1

So, that's what I'm working on right now... I have other things in my reportoire too, but I don't practice them very much at the moment.

Hehe.  I don't think Liszt is necessary for an audition (although I like Liszt a lot myself).

Yep, that's right... :) And let me tell you one more thing; I've never played any Liszt piece seriously.. His music just doesn't fascinate me. The b-minor sonata is boring (please don'tt kill me ;)), so are some other stuff I've heard. I'd rather learn other stuff.

My repertoire:

Well, what do you think? Not bad after 5 years?

*sigh* I've got to be the world's worst pianist.......heh.

(oh and in case you're wondering, I have finished many pieces before and performed but not one remains in my repertoire right now)

I always get assigned one sonata, one Bach piece, 1-3 Czerny Etudes, and about 2-3 'other' pieces.
I study until I 'pass' them, get a grade, and get a new one to work on (sometimes go back to old ones if I have a performance).

Some random works I had studied not too long ago:
- Bach 3-Voice Invention No.11 & 15
- Beethoven Sonata Op.2 No.1 in F Minor
- several etudes by Czerny from Op.299
- Haydn Sonata No.50 in D Major
- Joplin "Stoptime Rag"
- Mendelssohn Song Without Words - "Regrets"
- Tchaikovsky Valse Sentimentale Op.51/6 in F Minor

I'm currently working on the following:
- Bach 3-Voice Invention No.4
- Czerny Etudes No.14 & 18
- Chopin Mazurka Op.63 No.3 in C# Minor
- Grieg Lyric Pieces: Kobold "Puck", Op. 71, No. 3
- Haydn Sonata No.59 in Eb Major

I'll soon be starting Mozart's Adagio K.540 in B Minor

I also accompany for both of my school's high school show choirs (they're "popular" songs - although often very weird - like "It's Raining Men"), so I have actually a handful of things to do considering I'm at home and awake for only about 5-6 hours with piano practice only about 2/3 times a week lately..  :-\

How dare you! :D
I almost bitchslapped Ingemar when he said he hated Liszts Un Sospiro. ;)
It took me a while to like Liszt but now I can't live without him. If it wasn't for Chopins preludes (which puts him over the top) Liszt would probaley be my favorit composer.

Here's what it is supposed to be (but in fact it's not):

Bach: WTK I P&F Nos. 6 and 21
Mozart: Sonatas K. 332 and 570
Chopin: Etudes Op. 10 No. 6 and Op. 25 No. 1 and 12, Impromptu Op. 36, Polonaises Op. 26 No. 1 and Op. 40 No. 1, some preludes and Nocturnes
Brahms: Intermezzo Op. 10 No. 3
Liszt: Valse Impromptu
Scriabin: Deux Morceaux Op. 2, Poème Op. 32 No. 1
Ravel: Oiseaux Tristes and Vallée des Cloches from Miroirs
Rachmaninoff: Moment Musical Op. 16 No. 3
Schscthredin (wrong spelling): Humoreske

But I can only play Chopin's Prelude No. 9 in E major properly.
