How to say these chords in English
on: April 24, 2013, 09:55:46 AM
Hi everyone,
I'm a foreigner and just want to know the standard calling of this chord in the picture.
And another is, in a minor mode, a seventh chord found on ii (it's a half-diminished seventh chord), with it's root position. How to say it in English? How to say it briefly?
Thank you so much!!

You may term it either a half or partially diminished two seven chord, or a two seven chord, half or partially diminished. You may also just use the letter name of the note such as a "g" two seven, half or partially diminished, or a half or partially diminished "g" two seven.

Two, half-diminished seventh.
Two, half-dim seventh.
Letter name, half-dim(inished) seventh.
If it's an academic setting, supertonic.
If it's really informal, two. Even II written if it's less academic.
In the shorter cases, it's implied that it's a two half-dim seventh chord.
