I could only listen to it on crappy headphones, so the problem may be exaggerated at my end, but the sound recording quality seemed waaaay less than ideal. I couldn't really distinguish anything but a blur in the faster bits, and the balance in the rest was way off.

Can't say much about your specific transitions because I couldn't really hear where you were coming from, what you did, and where you went properly.

In general, though, I generally sort out how I want the opening bar or two of any new section to sound and work back from there.

Yeah, you know... I can't tell if it's the pedaling I'm doing or not doing. What do you mean the balance in the rest was completely off? I don't get that, so could you please elaborate? Yes, I tried to hide from the full sound by pedaling, but I also had a resonance problem, everything would ring out so damn long! Hmm, you couldn't tell where I went properly, you say? heh....no comment.

It is too bad noone could find it in their heart to listen to the damn thing, it was only 8.31 long, even shorter than that considering I took a breath before I started.  ::)
Even after all the time I put into sharing everything I know with people. It is really sad and disappointing to get NOTHING on this, because despite the audio quality (for god sakes, just get over it) I was kind of proud of the way I started that coda and then messed it up and then pulled it out of the dumps. But hey, me saying that doesn't mean anything! All you people ever cared about was putting the pressure on me, saying "well, I've never actually heard you play" and "oh, you never posted stuff in the audition room"...well, now you see why! I don't even have the means to post something with enough audio quality(even though I said I would post a recording of a different piano later, my camera is still the only one I have, with the hum that I am sure you could hear clearly) . This is not even worth the TROUBLE!   :-*

I meant I couldn't tell properly, not where you went properly. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Sorry, of course I listened to it. I just don't feel competent to comment much on pieces of this calibre, since I don't play them myself :(

It sounded like the Ballade to me and I think it's great you've gotten so far with it. It didn't seem completely ready, but I guess it wasn't supposed to be. And it was definitely you, with all the tattoos :)

Thank you! I will try to provide a final recording soon. This week or weekend.

And I mean, yeah! Even though I am used to working on long and difficult pieces, I still need all the help and time in the world to smooth them out. So, that's why I posted that in progress vid, I don't want any of my recordings to be my final performance, because there is always something to fix or play differently. Despite the mistakes I made, I felt there was a lot of potential in that take, and I wanted help bringing it from potential to professional level. My teacher is leaving me soon(she's moving), but I will be finishing a Bachelor of music in performance/padagogy and studying with a professor. However, I would like to become as professional as possible before then...

I have a problem though. The other nice piano in town is in a church and it is super reverberant! I can't use any pedal because it turns into space music! My baby grand is very old and the pedal squeaks a lot and very loudly. So, anyone care to pick where I should record next?

I listened to it too and started to reply, but it got very complicated and i decided to hold off, as it was a work "in progress".  Your intro is ideal, musically.  I remember i had a teacher once who made me play slow movements faster, to  understand the musical intention better.  And your intro sounded like that.  The architecture of the ascending and descending passage was perfect.  It had direction and movement.  Just a bit slower, now, and you've got it.  Yes, the coda was a mess.  Still needs lots of work.  I notice you sit very high.  I don't know whether this hinders your articulation or not.  Have you always sat this high?
Anyway, i'm curious to hear the final product.

Yep, I actually hate sitting this high, but this bench is not adjustable. At my baby grand, I have a wooden chair and i use it instead of the bench it came with because it is a bit lower, and the seat tilts back so I can slide back and sit LOW. Ill try to record there because the church is really reverbenant. But the pedal is really squeaky and janky.
That's interesting what your teacher said about the playing slow passages fast. I definitely notice where I could use some space and deliberating on how to set the mood more.

Do you guys want to keep talking about it? I can move the thread to the student corner.
