Too Much Music!
on: February 19, 2003, 12:03:02 AM
Hey Everyone! I just joined the board today! I'm really excited! Anywayz, I've been playing piano for 8 years and over the past two years graduated from the Alfred Series. I loved the series! It was fun and gave a variety of music. Now taht I'm out of the books I"m lost on what music to chose. I don't like any specific genere or time period, composers and my teacher doesn't realy care what I play! Is there a book I can get that has a variety of music to play from so I'm not always buying sheet music and/or big books that I only play two songs from?

Hey,
You are right, there's a lot of music out there. I recommend you get either winmx or kazaa (prefer the first one) and start searching for known composers' random pieces. Another good way would be to search google for midi files, or go to
www.sheetmusicarchive.net
You can find a lot of midi files at
www.classicalarchive.com
but they have limited downloads per day...
Try different time periods and styles... you'll find out what you fancy most and which pieces you would like to play.
Also there are books that have a wide variety of different compositions in them, for example check:
https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?sku=HL.310508&cart=32545786541909222&searchtitle=Sheet%20Music
If you click that monster link you can search for more books and so on from that site.
Well, hope that helps
