I would have to say some countries in Europe and the United States are most definitely the most important musical areas. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States has had a lot of music and New York City, New York is another. San Francisco has been known for it's music. Many Symphony Orchestras are renowned throughout Europe and many virtuoso pianists have been performing there. This weekend Lang Lang is performing Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra (I'm fortunate enough to be going) so again Philadelphia is busy.
Clementi, Piano Sonata in G Minor, No. 3, op. 10
W. A. Mozart, Sonata for Piano Four-Hands in F Major, K. 497
Beethoven, Piano Concerto, No. 2, op. 19

In my piano room. At least of the utmost importance for me.

I was just going to say that but you beat me to it.

There is a serious answer to m1469's question. Music is most important, not in the hands of famous artists, composers or prestigious events and places, but in the hearts, minds and homes of ordinary people; homes with instruments frequently played and with sound equipment, where its dependable ecstasy is an essential and welcome part of everyday life.

I think the film and TV industry would have some real problems with out it, and that's a global issue I guess.

Retail clothing stores would probably be lost too. They need it to draw in the right types and deter the wrong ones.

Yes, I guess it's the collective activity that is actually most important.  It is helpful to all places that musical activity is happening around the world.  There could be the greatest musicians in a great concert Hall, in a great place in the world, but without musically active places and people throughout the world, one great place is almost nothing because its activity has nobody to affect beyond its own walls.

because its activity has nobody to affect beyond its own walls.

A scope to which my neighbours would no doubt be grateful if I could limit myself.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a familiar mantra for pianists, yet true perfection remains elusive. Research suggests that a robotic exoskeleton could assist pianists during the practice phase in increasing speed in difficult passages by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”. Read more
